Why is there a higher margin on silver?

Because of its lower density and price per ounce, silver is often bought in larger quantities and therefore will take up more storage space than gold, which will have an impact on its overall margin.

Note that in addition to the margin, you need to add VAT on all metals other than gold in most countries.
